Introduction


Week 1

You are going to be working in groups of three, and you will each contribute to to the spreadsheet model and presentation. Your final presentation will be presented to a live audience made up of your peers and teachers.

Your will establish where the activity will take place. You have two options:
  • Abroad for Years 10 - 12 (minimum 12 student, maximum 48 students) within the Asia - Pacific region
  • In Hong Kong for all Year 7 (180 students) with a different activity for each of the 5 days.

Week 2

Using Spreadsheets - looking at relative and absolute cell referencing and picklists.
Using the 'Lesson 2' spreadsheets (copies are in the Homework Drive and attached below)
  1. See the worked example below on both the spreadsheets, then try to do the same task again. Save
  2. Complete the second worksheet in the same way as the first. Save

Task 3 / Homework
Once you have completed this task, start your online research on travel, activities, and accommodation costs for the trip, keep your information on a spreadsheet, (You may use a Google Docs spreadsheet which can be shared) for your research and use hyperlinks to the original sources / websites. This task is to be completed for homework between the group members.

Introducing Modelling - looking further into relative and absolute cell references and picklists.
Modelling a spreadsheet to manage the saving up of the deposit for CAS week.



Look at the above the spreadsheet … Modeling a students finances to see if they can save the deposit for CAS week.
Complete the Task individually.
Research & Homework
You are going to work in your groups preparing a PowerPoint / Google presentation, next week you will work on them further in the lesson.

Week 4

Effective Presentations
Task 1
CountIF and IF Statement in Spreadsheets.Use lesson 4 spreadsheets (students copy lesson 4 student resources).
Work through the first worksheet on the spreadsheet on the board … students then do this themselves and try to complete the second worksheet of spreadsheet themselves.
Task 2
Prepare PowerPoint /Google presentations (covering essentials of good presentation, using speaker notes, 5x5 Golden rules) and rehearse

Week 5

Task 1
Making Presentations - complete as a group the presentations, final touches
Present PowerPoints / Google presentations
Task 2
VLookup functions in Spreadsheets
