Here are some more examples of the type of bag you are going to make:

Research

  1. Find 10 pictures of different laptop bags/cases and copy onto an A4 page to print (black and white is ok).
  2. Paste these into your design journal.
  3. Annotate the pictures to identify:
  • closures
  • pockets
  • material type
  • key design features
Add to each image the source of that information. (web address)

Graphic Designing

Using the following themes design the graphics which will appear on the pocket of your laptop bag.
  • Heaven
  • Earth
  • Fire
  • Water
  • Self

Task 1

In you Design Journal - draw four rectangles 10cm wide 7cm high and sketch out some ideas, either one for each theme of your choice, or one or two themes - you should have four small sketches which are labeled with the theme and coloured.

Task 2

Using two adjoining pages of your Design Journal - select your chosen design theme and collect and cut out and paste images to make a small moodboard.
For Example see this link: Moodboards

Task 3

Collect 4-6 images from the internet that you might use to create one of your ideas - save them as .jpeg or .png images on your thumb-drive and bring them to the next lesson.
As a backup - Upload them using SMART

Task 4

Creating your graphics - use free online image and text manipulation and creation software here are some examples to get you started:

Homework

Make a template / pattern using Newspaper and a market pen by tracing around your laptop carefully, then trace around the end profile of your laptop to show its thickness.

Measure the drawing carefully and add dimensions in cm's.

Do not cut it out please, and bring to the next lesson.

If you do not have a laptop at home, then come at lunchtime to room 203 and use one of the silver laptops to make a template - you must provide your own newspaper. Do not leave this until next lesson as this is a homework task.
